The event of tonight was the Silicon Valley Newtech Meetup, organized by Vincent Lauria. The first hour or so was dedicated to presentations, as they always are. Nothing too new… I’m beginning to get tired of seeing Lucky Oliver everywhere I go. I’m yet to step foot on their website! But anyway, presenters included Lucky Oliver, My-Currency, Eventful, and Slideshare. My personal favorite is slideshare - it’s basically the “youtube of slideshows” in the same way that scribd is considered the “youtube of word documents.”
Here’s my overall assessment:
1) Quality of Presentations: 7/10 (Decent presenters with interesting startups, but stuff I’ve seen way too many times)
2) Venue: 8/10 - DLA Piper is beautiful and great, but it’s not big enough to accommodate all of the attendees.
3) Food: 7/10 - Pizza. Plain Old Pizza.
4) Quality of Attendees: 7/10 - Lots of familiar faces, but the crowd this time wasn’t nearly as good as the one I saw back in April.
If I just so happen to be down in South Bay, I’ll drop by for the next event. If not, I don’t think it’s worth the 1-2 hours of driving time. More to come!

Pizza beer and startup folk … it’s pretty hard formula to screw up.
I was amazed at the turn out, and thought that Vincent did a good job of being an MC. Thanks for the shout-out on slideshare!
